People of Hope!

I watched a member of our church on a national television show last week. (I’d mention his name, but I would still like to see his head fit through the door.) As he honed his craft over the years, his collaborative work on a particular job became worthy of note. After watching the show I told him GQ magazine would be looking for him next…. It reminded me of a verse in Proverbs 22:9 “Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.” People take note of you when you do excellent work – it gives Jesus an opportunity to show Himself to others through your life. “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” (1 Peter 2:12) There’s something honoring to God when a believer finds a job, works hard at it and serves those he’s near…. it’s called ministry. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men….” (Colossians 3:23). I didn’t mention our brother’s name because he’s one of the humblest guys I know and he wouldn’t want the attention…..which is probably why God allowed him to have it.

As I continue the message series called SELECTED STORIES FROM THE MASTER TEACHER, Sunday will be “Some Are Ready, Some Are Not”

MIX 56 YEAR END PARTY – Tomorrow
Do you have a 5th or 6th grader? Don’t forget the party this Friday here at the building starting at 6:56 pm. Contact Lisa Wood with any questions:

CHRISTMAS PLAY – December 15th
Come out on December 15th for one of the showings of our Christmas play this year…..Candy Cane Lane. There will be two shows; one at 2:00 pm and one at 7:00 pm. This will be a great time to encourage the cast and experience in a special way the impact of what God has done for the world through Jesus.

Take some time to enjoy the company of some other ladies here at Hope. Bring a wrapped gift that costs no more than $15 and one of your favorite dishes to share for a meal together. December 20th at 6:00 pm. Childcare will be provided

We will have two services on Christmas Eve with real “light ‘em on fire” candles; one at 4:00 and one at 6:00 pm. There will be care for every child, nursery through 6th grade. A special children’s program in the kid’s wing will take place during the services that I believe will provide a lasting memory especially for those kids who have never or rarely been in church. These services are not only encouraging to believers, but I would highly encourage you to take the opportunity to invite someone who hasn’t started following Jesus yet, it’s one of two times each year that an unbeliever will most likely respond to an invitation from you.

See you soon!
